Invest in and develop an entire generation of new and innovative content producers who understand and are actively engaged in creating content for that segment of our population who cannot afford existing Pay TV subscriptions – this amounts to approximately 26 million viewers in SA alone.

Startimes (Africa) and Starsat (SA) is actively targeting this subscription base by offering affordable subscriptions across Africa thus development of a Unique Business Production Model beyond Content Acquisition and Commissions e.g securing content from other BRICS countries thus promoting collaboration between the coalition countries.

BRICS Channel

Profiling the various activities and projects of the BRICS coalition across the socio political and economic spectrum, promoting the ethos of the coalition and celebrating achievements to date whilst facilitating linkages and understanding between diverse communities of people that make up the BRICS countries. This will be a powerful tool for ‘people to people’ relations and will also be a mechanism that will bring ordinary people closer to what’s happening in high level engagements.

Indigenous Communities Channel

Honouring and celebrating the unique heritage of the First Nations People (Khoisan), advancing the promotion and conservation of endangered indigenous Khoi and San languages thus educating and informing broader audience about these marginalised communities. (Reference our documentary series on Rock Art endorsed by Nelson Mandela Foundation)

Legislative Channel

Specific focus on service delivery issues, unpacking and interpreting key legal processes and legislation at national, provincial and local government so as to inform and empower communities in regards to their rights, legal recourse and obligations of the democratic state and their responsibilities as citizens.

Education Channel

Profiling the educational landscape from university to higher education, presenting opportunities offered through the Sector Education Authorities (SETA’s) programmes and TVET colleges to university and college students and also with specific refernce to the more than 8 million unemployed and “unemployable" youth in SA.

Moja Research

The work undertaken by the content development unit will be guided by the overarching work of the Moja Research Institute. The Institute will be tasked to manage a number of programs and events that will help facilitate high-level discussions as well as fostering people-to-people relations.

Moja Research Key objectives

The Institute will serve as a hub for critical thought in media, development, global governance, pan-Africanism and BRICS relations. It has a number of focus areas which serve to match thinking with leaders in order for them, as leaders, to implement the thought.

As a research hub, based in Cape Town, the Institute facilitates thinking, dialogue, training, mediation and research among other areas throughout the African continent.
